The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the good news. (Mark 1:15b)
Rightly directed faith is necessary for spiritual sanity. If we believe wrong things about God our valid experiences with God will be misinterpreted. If we have faith in God’s goodness that rightly directed faith will activate our prayers and continually refresh our anticipation. Here is how God speaks of Himself:
Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.“ (Exodus 34:6-7)
God does not see Himself as a bad guy. I think we should trust His perspective of Himself.
But what about our sin? Surely God will rigorously prosecute and judge us. Oh? Is that how the psalmist viewed our Redeemer? Look at this sober assessment:
If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. (Psalm 130:3-4)
Our King can be trusted. However, the adversary is a slanderer who accuses and lies.
Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1)
Satan seeks to destroy godly faith by stealing the word of God from unwary believers’ hearts.
These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. (Mark 4:15)
Once this strategy is recognized and uncovered it can be overcome.
Our Messiah had perfect spiritual discernment and the fullness of power and authority. Notice, He used the Scriptures to overcome the devil.
“It is written…” (Matthew 4:4,6,10)
We have the same spiritual resource.
And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. ( Ephesians 6:17)
One more thing, it is good to be loyally zealous for our Father’s honor. The nerve of the devil to slander God’s goodness to His redeemed children! Our redemption was accomplished through a revelation of His effective love for us at Calvary.
For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:17)
Sometimes having a refreshed experience with the love of God is as simple as acting upon the determination to change one’s mind and believe the best about God.
The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the good news. (Mark 1:15b)
Don’t put up with the enemy’s slander. Put on the armor of God and go to war. After all, what are you being asked to believe concerning God’s love that is unworthy of your trust?
Nothing.
So, pray in faith. Repent, believe the good news and exercise that faith via prayer.
Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. (Mark 11:24-25)
God will answer you.
