Video Seminar Introduction
We are glad you are going to invest time and effort in this life changing study. This video curriculum presents key aspects of the teaching contained in the book God’s True Love, by David Harwood. It invites the participant to study the Scriptures to discover something of the “breadth, length, height and depth” (Ephesians 3:18) of God’s love.
The first two sections investigate, and reveal, the nature of “agape.” In these videos, you will discover what shapes your understanding of God’s “agape” and discover what His love is really like. This is an important awakening because how we understand the definition of “agape” impacts our relationship with God, others, and ourselves.
Next discussed are the topics of a) the characteristics of God’s love for all humanity, and b) the heart of the gospel. These are revelatory, transformative explorations of basic scriptural truths. As a result of this section, your view of the intrinsic value of humanity will be enhanced and your appreciation of the gospel, deepened.
Finally, the curriculum ends with instruction and exhortation about the necessity of abiding in the love of Jesus. It offers practical, spiritual instruction on how to grow in the experiential knowledge of His love.
These videos are of varying lengths. We provide accompanying outlines. Each are followed by suggested discussion questions and spiritual exercises. These videos can be viewed and discussed by themselves or grouped according to time allowance.
We recognize the importance of the Holy Spirit’s activity in making the Scriptures come alive as they are read and discussed. We are also in need of His help as we position our hearts, through the use of suggested exercises, to experience the love of God.
It is our prayer, along with Paul,
… that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that [the] Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of [the] Messiah which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
As you begin, expect to have your life changed. Your relationship with God, yourself and others will be enhanced. Your capacity to help others grow in the knowledge of God’s love will increase. It’s going to be great!
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in [the] Messiah Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
